Get Peace of Mind with a Microchip

Did you know that 1 out of every 3 pets will go missing in their lifetime? Losing your pet may seem like something that could never happen to you but it’s actually more common than you may realize. Some animals may dig under a fence to get out while others might accidentally escape out the front door. Even loud noises such as fireworks or thunderstorms may make your pet more prone to panic and flee. That’s why at Animal Medical and Surgical Hospital we believe it’s important to get your pet microchipped as soon as you bring a new furry friend into the family. Without ID, 90% of lost pets don’t return home.

Getting your pet microchipped is easy and practically painless for your furry friend. One of our nurses will simply inject the microchip, which is about the size of a grain of rice (12mm), beneath the surface of your pet's skin in between the shoulder blades. The process is similar to an injection and takes only a few seconds. What’s great about a microchip is that it’s much more reliable than a collar and tag. There is no chance it will fall off! Your pet will be linked to you for a lifetime with a HomeAgain microchip.

After the microchip is inserted, one of our nurses will give you a piece of paper to enroll your pet's special ID code into the HomeAgain website along with your contact information. Enrolling is a very important step! That’s what makes it possible for your pet to be positively identified and for you to be notified. Should your pet wind up lost and be found by someone who takes them to an animal shelter or clinic, you can rest easy knowing that HomeAgain’s microchip can be universally read by any professional or rescue operation with a scanner. It is important to keep your microchip information up to date in case you move or change your phone number.

Microchips:

-Do not hurt your pets

-Do not require surgery

-Do not move out of place

Call AMSH to take the first step to getting your pet microchipped! Our knowledgeable team of nurses will be able to safely place the microchip and walk you through the enrollment process. We’re committed to keeping your pet happy and healthy for a lifetime!
